Organ Matinee with Jan Liebermann

Johann Sebastian Bach from every angle.

The organ matinee concert series – featuring some of Sweden’s leading organists, and occasionally, as in this case, international guests – has grown into a much-loved tradition. The organ at Konserthuset Stockholm, with its magnificent façade, is one of the most famous in Europe – and with 6,100 pipes, also one of the largest.

At this matinee, we meet young German organist Jan Liebermann (born 2005), who in recent years has taken the organ world by storm. He regularly performs in Europe’s most important churches and concert halls for organ music, including St. Michael’s Church in Hamburg, St. Jacob’s Church in Lübeck, the Philharmonie in Essen, Southwark Cathedral in London, and many more. He also has a huge following on social media, with his recordings reaching millions of views.

For his concert at Konserthuset Stockholm, Liebermann presents an all-Bach programme, beginning with the world’s most famous organ work: Toccata and Fugue in D minor. The programme continues with a selection of Bach pieces in arrangements by celebrated organ composers and virtuosos – including the Chaconne and the Air.
